Living With What You’ve Got…

In all the books you read about the “millionaire” down the street, the principals are always the same.  Live on less than you make!  Most of them don’t drive the newest model of car, they live in the same house for years paying attention to maintenance and upkeep.  So any effort you make to not waste is making your hard earned money go farther.  New is not always better, many times the new things we thought we had to have stay on the shelf and are hardly used.  There are opportunities everywhere for barely used merchandise…newspapers…

local ads…the internet…second hand stores…yard sales.  Now that so many are losing jobs and downsizing there are lots of things being sold to supplement the living expenses.  Make the most of what you have, you don’t always have to purchase something.  Maybe something you are not using, that’s taking up space in your garage can fill another purpose.  An unused file cabinet can double as an end table in your guest room.  Store extra item in the drawers and with a pretty cloth over the top….voila, new furnishings.  A chipped teapot can live a second life as a container for your fresh flowers, or better yet plant your daisies in it and set out on the porch.  If you enjoy crafts there are lots of things to do with recycled items.  Odd spoons and old keys make clever mobiles to hand outdoors and make a nice sound in the breeze.  The trick is to take a look at things with fresh insight, and if you can’t use it or don’t need it donate it, maybe someone else has  a great idea for it.  Becoming debt free begins with not wasting….money….time….and space.   Clean out your space, share, donate or sell on e-bay.
